How can light carry and transfer data in WiFi and Li-Fi networks?

 Both WiFi and Li-Fi are wireless communication technologies that transmit data between devices. However, they differ in the way data is carried and transferred. While WiFi uses radio waves to transmit data, Li-Fi uses light waves. In this article, we will discuss how light can carry and transfer data in WiFi and Li-Fi networks.


WiFi Networks:


WiFi networks use radio waves to transmit data. Radio waves are a form of electromagnetic radiation that travel through the air at the speed of light. They are transmitted by a router and received by a device, such as a smartphone or laptop, which is equipped with a Wi-Fi receiver.


In a WiFi network, data is carried and transferred through modulated radio waves. These waves are generated by the router and are picked up by the receiver in the device. The data is transmitted by modulating the amplitude, frequency, or phase of the radio waves.


The router uses an antenna to transmit the radio waves. The antenna converts the electrical signal carrying the data into an electromagnetic wave that is sent out into the air. The receiver in the device picks up the radio waves and converts them back into the electrical signal carrying the data.


Li-Fi Networks:


Li-Fi, on the other hand, uses light waves to carry and transfer data. It uses LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs to transmit data. The LED bulbs emit light that can be modulated to carry data. The data is encoded onto the light waves by modulating the intensity or frequency of the light.


In a Li-Fi network, data is carried and transferred through modulated light waves. The LED bulbs in the transmitter are used to transmit the modulated light waves, which are then received by a photo detector in the receiver device. The photo detector detects the modulated light waves and converts them back into the electrical signal carrying the data.




Li-Fi networks have several advantages over WiFi networks. They offer higher data transfer rates, as light waves can carry more data than radio waves. Li-Fi is also more secure than WiFi, as light waves cannot penetrate walls and are therefore more difficult to intercept.
